The Jewish cemetery in Jaworzno was established in the second half of the 19th century, the oldest known tombstone dates back to 1884. The present area of the necropolis is very limited in relation to the original layout, it covers an area of 0.25 ha and does not include the oldest part of the cemetery.
Interestingly, the cemetery survived the Second World War without major damages, the devastation process began only after the war and lasted until the 1980s. Thanks to the efforts of the Jews from the USA, former residents of Jaworzno, it was possible to collect funds for cleaning the cemetery.
